Outside the Lexicon of Derision
- The Courage to Be Seen as You Are -
There are many things we fear; among these fears hums a quiet whisper gently pointing you to be seen. But who really wants that? The desire to be seen, but not so much that we are naked, completely vulnerable, with no layers of accommodation, no left over proof of garments sown in the the darkest corners of our mind. In moments of conversation, or any sort of exchange with the outside world - have we not all experienced this quiet whisper?
It often says to us, ‘you don’t really feel that way do you?’ Perhaps you pause, hesitating to squeeze out a droplet of some insight or idea - like ringing out a wet rag you’ve accumulated your many withholdings as they’ve privately spilled time to time. The dread of wringing out a single drop; is it even worth it? To be seen - as what? Grandiose, pretentious, weak, out of touch, pompous, contrived, pseudo intellectual, overzealous - Or just blatantly laughed at because ‘who really cares about such boring things’.
So, here we are, the aspiring Artist, Writer, Pastry Chef, Teacher, Gardener, Builder, - all withholding our genius to the world because of mostly imagined judgements that we have not given ourselves a chance to overcome.
Stuck inside the Lexicon of Derision.
Instead of telling you to simply, not care what they think of you next time the whisper calls to you, it may be more effective to leave you with a question.
Don’t you find it curious that these terms of diminishment carry more volume than a whisper?
